Robert Kerman
Career
A Brooklyn College and American Academy of Dramatic Arts graduate credited under his own name and as R. Bolla, Kerman is best known in the adult industry for Debbie Does Dallas (1978), and built an entirely separate mainstream career at the same time: a small role in the Neil Simon-scripted The Goodbye Girl (1977), the lead role of Professor Harold Monroe in the video-nasty horror film Cannibal Holocaust (1980), and further genre and studio credits running into the 2000s, including a bit part in Spider-Man (2002). He later said he "bitterly regretted" his adult-film work, calling it something that had cost him his mainstream acting prospects. He was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 1997 and the XRCO Hall of Fame in 2008, and died in 2018.
Signature: The clearest mainstream-crossover filmography of the era in either direction: a Neil Simon studio picture and a cult horror lead alongside his adult-film work, not after it.
