Bobby Astyr
Career
A former musician nicknamed the "Clown Prince of Porno" for his comedic roles, Bobby Astyr worked steadily through the mid-1970s and into the 1980s, including a supporting turn as a maitre d’ in Barbara Broadcast (1977) and a Best Supporting Actor win at the 1979 Erotic Film Awards for People. He was a long-term professional partner of performer Samantha Fox from 1978 until his death, and later served on the board of an East Village housing project in New York. He died in 2002 following a five- to six-year battle with lung cancer, and the XRCO Hall of Fame inducted him in 1999.
Signature: The rare comedic specialist of the era to be Hall of Fame-inducted for range rather than a single dramatic or box-cover title, with a competitive Best Supporting Actor win to go with it.
