“Dirtiest Pornstars”: What the Gonzo Award Record Actually Shows

There is still no ranking of people by "dirtiest" or "nastiest" on this page, and there never will be — that finding did not change.

The category listings on Wikipedia’s own AVN Awards and XRCO Awards pages contain no award, current or retired, named for either word.

Fifty years of ceremonies have never produced the thing this search term assumes exists, and inventing an inclusion standard so that a list can exist is precisely the failure this programme was set up to avoid.

Why Tristan ranks 1st

Taormino’s Chemistry series — an explicitly unscripted format in which performers chose who they had sex with, without a director dictating the scene — won AVN’s Best Gonzo Release in 2007, the same year it also won the Feminist Porn Awards’ Hottest Gonzo Sex Scene / Hottest Diverse Cast and Adam Film World’s Best Couples Movie.

That three-body sweep for one title is the strongest single credential on this list. A Wesleyan University graduate who wrote the Village Voice sex column "Pucker Up" opposite Dan Savage from 1999 to 2008, she went on to create Vivid Ed, Vivid Entertainment’s sex-education imprint, and won three consecutive AVN Best Educational Release awards for it — recognition in a completely different category from the one that qualifies her here. She has authored eight books on sexuality and edited a decade of the annual Best Lesbian Erotica anthology.

The case against: Her qualifying credit is a single AVN category win for one title, not a multi-year run, and her primary industry identity is as a writer-director rather than an on-camera performer — her own record lists no acting credits at all.

A Wesleyan University graduate who wrote the Village Voice sex column "Pucker Up" opposite Dan Savage from 1999 to 2008, Taormino moved into directing with a video adaptation of her own book The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women in 1999, then created the Chemistry series for Vivid Entertainment from 2006 — an explicitly unscripted format in which performers chose who they had sex with, and where, without a director dictating the scene. The format won Chemistry both an AVN Best Gonzo Release and a Feminist Porn Award in the same year, plus Adam Film World’s Best Couples Movie. She went on to create Vivid Ed, Vivid’s sex-education imprint, winning three consecutive AVN Best Educational Release awards, and has authored eight books on sexuality alongside a decade editing the annual Best Lesbian Erotica anthology. She identifies as queer and has been a visible advocate for polyamory and non-monogamy.

Signature: The clearest bridge on this list between the couples-market feature and the feminist-porn movement: Chemistry won a mainstream AVN category and a Feminist Porn Award in the same year for the same film.

Why Bobbi ranks 2nd

Starr’s Bobbi Violates San Francisco, which she directed and appeared in for Evil Angel, won AVN’s Best Gonzo Release in 2013 — one year after she had already won AVN’s Female Performer of the Year outright, in the same 2012 ceremony that gave her own site, BobbiStarr.com, Best Porn Star Website.

Few names in this programme’s store were recognised as performer, director and proprietor within a single two-year stretch. She began performing in fetish content for Kink.com at twenty-two, was named among CNBC’s twelve most popular adult film actresses in both 2011 and 2013, and AVN inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 2026.

Her record also carries two XRCO Superslut wins (2009, 2010) — a pejorative-register category this site does not treat as an inclusion basis anywhere, and no part of why she ranks here.

The case against: Her Best Gonzo Release win is a single 2013 credit rather than a repeated one, and it sits inside a broader record so large that it is difficult to isolate how much of her overall standing is gonzo-specific versus general recognition.

Bobbi Starr began performing in fetish scenes for Kink.com at twenty-two before moving into the wider industry, and by 2012 had become one of the few performers whose personal website was itself an award-winning product: BobbiStarr.com won AVN’s Best Porn Star Website the same year she won Female Performer of the Year outright. She also directed for Evil Angel — Bobbi’s World (2011) and Bobbi Violates San Francisco (2013) — both of which won their own AVN category awards, meaning she was recognised as performer, director and site owner within the same two-year stretch. XRCO gave her four further category wins across 2009–2012, and AVN inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 2026. She was named among CNBC’s twelve most popular adult film actresses in both 2011 and 2013, and wrote the "Adventures in Porny Land" column for Fox Magazine.

Signature: One of the few performers whose own website won an AVN Award in the same year she won Female Performer of the Year — recognised as talent, director and proprietor in a single ceremony.

Why Seymore ranks 3rd

Born Adam Glasser, Seymore Butts built his own production company, Seymore, Inc., in the early 1990s and won AVN’s Best Gonzo Series in both 1999 and 2000 for the self-titled Seymore Butts line — a repeat win under his own name rather than a studio brand he happened to appear in.

Both the XRCO (2004) and AVN (2005) Halls of Fame inducted him. From February 2003 he starred in Family Business, a Showtime reality series that ran four seasons and 37 episodes, showing his mother and cousin helping him run what the network called his "porn empire" — the series itself won the 2005 AVN Award for Best Alternative Release, an unusually literal piece of mainstream documentation of how one of these companies actually runs.

The case against: Both Best Gonzo Series wins land at the turn of the millennium, a quarter-century before this page publishes, and the exact year he adopted the Seymore Butts persona is documented only as "early 1990s" rather than a specific date.

Born Adam Glasser, Seymore Butts began performing in the late 1980s before adopting the gag name — "see more butts" — as a pseudonym and founding his own production company, Seymore, Inc., in the early 1990s. Rather than working under contract for an existing studio, he built and ran his own label from the start, winning AVN’s Best Gonzo Series in both 1999 and 2000 for the self-titled Seymore Butts line, and was inducted into the XRCO Hall of Fame in 2004 and the AVN Hall of Fame in 2005. From February 2003 he starred in Family Business, a Showtime reality series that ran four seasons and 37 episodes through June 2006 — corrected from a previously stated five seasons, which neither Wikipedia nor the series’ own episode record supports — in which his mother Lila Glasser and his cousin Stevie Glasser were shown helping him run what the network called his "porn empire." The series itself won the 2005 AVN Award for Best Alternative Release, an unusually literal piece of mainstream documentation for how one of these companies actually operates day to day.

Signature: The rare adult-industry business whose day-to-day operations were filmed and broadcast on a mainstream cable network for four seasons, rather than described secondhand.

Why Christian ranks 4th

Clay won XBIZ Europa’s Best Sex Scene — Gonzo in 2023, the same year he took the body’s outright Male Performer of the Year title, which he repeated in 2024.

Behind both sits one of the largest documented credit counts of any active Italian performer — Italian Wikipedia lists 1,623 acting roles and 4 directing credits, with other industry reporting citing IAFD figures closer to 1,810.

He also holds AVN wins in three different international scene categories (2017, 2021, 2022) and took AVN’s International Male Performer of the Year in 2025. Discovered by Riccardo Schicchi at a Rome casting session, he filmed his first scene the next day at a villa in Frascati.

The case against: The qualifying gonzo credit is a single scene award from XBIZ Europa rather than a release- or series-level title, and his hair and eye colour are undocumented; his exact debut year is recorded only as "early 2000s".

Why Ben ranks 5th

Born Simon James Honey in Sittingbourne, Kent, Ben Dover built the Ben Dover series into one of the defining British gonzo brands of the late 1990s, winning AVN’s Best Gonzo Release in both 2000 and 2002 and taking an AVN Hall of Fame induction in 2011.

He had already won AVN’s Breakthrough Award in 1997 and hosted the first UK Adult Film and Television Awards ceremony in 2006, where he also received its own Lifetime Achievement Award. His career ran the full span of the UK’s 1984 Video Recordings Act regulatory era, legally, from a 1978 debut.

He later crossed into mainstream British broadcasting, including a 2009 BBC Four documentary about his life; his son, Tyger Drew-Honey, is a BBC television presenter.

The case against: Both Gonzo Release wins are more than two decades old, no documented credit count or studio-breadth figure exists for his catalogue, and his exact retirement date from on-camera performing is not stated anywhere in the sourced record.

Born Simon James Honey in Sittingbourne, Kent, he worked as a session drummer before entering adult film in 1978 and later built the Ben Dover series into one of the defining British gonzo brands of the late 1990s, winning AVN’s Best Gonzo Release twice and an AVN Hall of Fame induction in 2011. He hosted the first UK Adult Film and Television Awards ceremony in 2006, where he also received its Lifetime Achievement Award, and later moved into mainstream British broadcasting — a 2009 BBC Four documentary about his life, and an Edinburgh Fringe one-man show the same year. His son, Tyger Drew-Honey, is a BBC television presenter and actor, a crossover the industry itself rarely produces.

Signature: An AVN Hall of Fame induction (2011) built on a gonzo brand that ran across a full UK regulatory era — legal under the 1984 Video Recordings Act throughout, and still performing decades after his 1978 debut.

Why Stirling ranks 7th

Cooper’s qualifying credit, XBIZ’s Best Sex Scene — Gonzo in 2021, is one of the few entries on his own record that held up against a direct check of the ceremony pages: an earlier version of his file counted four AVN nominations as wins — Best Gangbang Sex Scene, Best Actor, and two Best Supporting Actor nods — and each has since been corrected against AVN’s own category pages, which show the actual wins going to other performers.

What remains confirmed is a genuinely varied haul: the XRCO’s own curated page confirms his 2020 New Stud title, and niche wins from Fleshbot, NightMoves, Urban X and XCritic sit alongside the gonzo scene credit.

He has publicly stated he left performing in 2020 and now works as a sex and relationship coach with a YouTube following of roughly 400,000.

The case against: His record needed an active correction to be usable at all, he has no English-language Wikipedia biography, and several of his niche wins are sourced to Wikidata alone with no ceremony page available to check them against — his profile is marked medium confidence for exactly these reasons.

Stirling Cooper debuted in the American industry in 2017 and took the XRCO New Stud title in 2020, confirmed on XRCO’s own curated awards page. Four further AVN "win" credits carried in earlier versions of this record — Best Gangbang Sex Scene (2020), Best Actor (2021), and Best Supporting Actor (2021 and 2022) — do not hold up against AVN’s own dedicated award-category pages, which show Stirling Cooper as a nominee in each case, with the actual wins going to other performers (Xander Corvus in 2021, Tommy Pistol in 2021’s Featurette category and again in 2022); those four have been corrected to nominations here. He has publicly stated, on his own social media account, that he left the industry in 2020, correcting an unsourced 2023 date this record previously carried, and moved into sex and relationship coaching, building an educational following of nearly 400,000 YouTube subscribers under his own name.

Signature: One confirmed XRCO win, five further niche and competitive wins across five other bodies, and five AVN nominations that this record previously and wrongly counted as wins — corrected here against AVN’s own category pages rather than left as found.

Why Chanel ranks 8th

Camryn won Best New Starlet from both AVN and XRCO in 2024 and then took XRCO’s Female Performer of the Year outright the following year — one of the fastest documented newcomer-to-top-title conversions in this programme’s 2018–2026 window — the same 2025 season in which she won XBIZ’s Best Sex Scene — Gonzo, alongside an AVN Best Oral Sex Scene and Best Supporting Actress.

A further AVN Best Boy/Girl Sex Scene followed in 2026. The pace of the record is the case for her here: newcomer to top honour to a gonzo-specific scene win, all inside about eighteen months.

The case against: She has no dedicated Wikipedia biography — her record rests on Wikidata plus the award bodies’ own pages — and her exact birth city is recorded only as Jacksonville, with the state unconfirmed.

Chanel Camryn debuted in 2022 and won Best New Starlet from both AVN and XRCO in 2024. The following year she won XRCO’s Female Performer of the Year outright — the fastest documented Best New Starlet-to-top-title conversion in this field’s 2018–2026 window — and added further AVN and XBIZ scene wins across 2025 and 2026.

Why Kendra ranks 9th

Sunderland won XBIZ’s Best Sex Scene — Gonzo in 2024, eight years after XBIZ had already named her Web Star of the Year in 2016 and nine years after an AVN Best Boy/Girl Sex Scene win in 2017.

She started on the webcam site MyFreeCams in 2014 at eighteen, and a video she recorded inside the Oregon State University library went viral the following year — she was charged with public indecency, pleaded guilty, paid a fine and was expelled.

She converted that notoriety into a sustained career rather than a single moment, signing with Brazzers in 2020 and then Vixen Media Group, and now works independently.

The case against: The qualifying credit is a single scene award, no reliable total credit count has ever been published for her filmography, and her exact birthplace within the United States is not documented.

Why Marcello ranks 10th

Bravo won AVN’s Best Gonzo Series at the 43rd AVN Awards in January 2026, the same ceremony at which he became the first Austrian man to take AVN Male Foreign Performer of the Year — both confirmed directly against that ceremony’s own page.

He had already built a multi-year run of AVN international scene-category wins beforehand (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). Born Markus Schlögl, he was a four-time Austrian national pole-dancing champion and the 2015 Mr Pole Dance Global world titleholder before entering adult film in 2008, and he also directs under his own name, winning Best Director at the Erots Festival Prague the same season as his AVN wins.

The case against: His entire scored record is concentrated in the 2021–2026 window with no earlier award history, and neither his height nor a total credit count has been documented.

Why Martina ranks 11th

Smeraldi’s performance in My Name Is Zaawaadi won XBIZ Europa’s Gonzo Movie of the Year in 2020, a feature-level award rather than a single-scene credit, one year after she debuted at nineteen following training at the Rocco Siffredi Academy.

In 2023 she shared AVN’s Best International Group Sex Scene for Rocco’s Double Trouble 5 with four other performers. Born Alessandra Sau in Cagliari, Sardinia, she has also made mainstream television appearances in Italy and lent her voice to a 2025 rap album — a documented crossover beyond the industry record that qualifies her here.

The case against: Her qualifying win is shared credit for a feature she performed in rather than one she directed or produced, and no consolidated documented film-credit count has been published for her career.

Born Alessandra Sau in Cagliari, Sardinia, Martina Smeraldi debuted in adult film at 19 and trained at the Rocco Siffredi Academy, where she appeared alongside Malena la Pugliese in early productions that helped her build a following. The gonzo feature My Name Is Zaawaadi, in which she performed, won Gonzo Movie of the Year at the 2020 XBIZ Europa Awards. In 2023 she shared the AVN Award for Best International Group Sex Scene with Sara Bell, Yves Morgan, Oscar Batty and Mike Chapman for Rocco's Double Trouble 5, Scene 2. She has made television appearances, including on Live – Non è la D'Urso in 2019, and lent her voice to the 2025 album Santana Money Gang by rappers Shiva and Sfera Ebbasta.

Signature: Went from Rocco Siffredi Academy student to a shared AVN Award winner within roughly four years — one of the faster award trajectories of the performers in this partition.

Definitions

A marketing register, a judged production category, and the difference between them

Three different things get called "dirty" in this industry and a search engine collapses them into one query. The first is a product name — an adjective a studio prints on a box or a series title to signal intensity. The second is a production classification, gonzo, which has real ceremony-level award categories at four different bodies. The third is a judgement about a named person, which has no source, no method and no category anywhere in the historical record, and this page still will not publish it.

The second is what this page ranks, and it turns out to be larger than one ceremony. Our hardcore pornstars page already covers the XRCO’s own Best Gonzo Release and Best Gonzo Series titles. Checking the literal award field on every performer record this programme holds — all 1,139 files — for the word "Gonzo" found a further twelve names carrying the same category from AVN, XBIZ, XBIZ Europa or the rebranded XMA Creator Awards. One of those twelve, Alexis Texas, is the XRCO winner already ranked on the sibling page. The other eleven are ranked here, on a genuinely separate set of ceremonies rather than the same trophy under a second name.

Within that record, tier matters and this page states it rather than smoothing it over. AVN’s Best Gonzo Release and Best Gonzo Series, and XBIZ Europa’s Gonzo Movie of the Year, are release- or feature-level titles — the same class of award hardcore-pornstars ranks on. XBIZ’s, XBIZ Europa’s and XMA’s Best Sex Scene — Gonzo is a single-scene credit, a real category but a narrower one. Six of the eleven names below hold the first kind; five hold the second. Every entry says which.

The third — ranking a named living person by an adjective of disgust — remains a different act entirely, not a weaker version of a ranking. It cannot be checked, cannot be disputed and cannot be sourced, and this site takes the same position on it that it takes on the beauty-standard page. One performer ranked below, Bobbi Starr, happens to also hold the XRCO’s "Superslut" award elsewhere on her record — itself evidence that even the ceremonies sometimes reach for a pejorative category name — and it is stated plainly on her entry that Superslut is not why she is ranked here.

TermWhat it meansHow it differs
XRCO Best Gonzo Release / SeriesThe gonzo-specific award record ranked on our hardcore pornstars page, sixteen performers deep.A different ceremony from every award used on this page. Zero names are shared between the two rosters.
AVN Best Gonzo Release / SeriesThe same production category, judged by AVN instead of the XRCO. Six of the eleven names on this page hold a release- or series-level AVN win in this category.A release- or feature-level title, the same tier as the XRCO award — not a lesser or informal version of it.
XBIZ / XBIZ Europa / XMA Best Sex Scene — GonzoA single-scene gonzo award run by XBIZ and its Europa and rebranded XMA editions.A real, judged category, but scene-level rather than release-level — narrower than a Best Gonzo Release or Series title, and disclosed as such on every entry that rests on it.
Gonzo Movie of the Year (XBIZ Europa)XBIZ Europa’s feature-level equivalent of Best Gonzo Release, awarded to a title rather than a scene.Treated on this page as the same tier as AVN’s Best Gonzo Release, because it recognises the same kind of production unit — a full title, not a single scene.
XRCO Superslut / AVN or XRCO Most Outrageous Sex SceneCategories the ceremonies themselves have actually run in a pejorative or jokey register. Not an inclusion basis for this page under any circumstance, even where a ranked performer also holds one. Evidence that the marketing register reaches the ceremonies too, not a measurement of anyone.
Context

How the same production style ended up judged four different ways

1999–2002

AVN starts naming it before the XRCO record on the sibling page even opens

AVN’s Best Gonzo Series went to Seymore Butts’ self-titled line in both 1999 and 2000, and its Best Gonzo Release went to the Ben Dover series in 2000 and again in 2002 — years before the XRCO-specific record our hardcore pornstars page ranks produces its own earliest confirmed winner. Two competing bodies were judging the same production style from close to the same starting point, under near-identical category names, and largely to different performers.

2007–2013

The feature auteurs get their AVN turn

Tristan Taormino’s Chemistry took AVN’s Best Gonzo Release in 2007, the same year it won a Feminist Porn Award in the same register — a rare case of a mainstream industry body and the feminist-porn movement recognising the identical title. Bobbi Starr’s Bobbi Violates San Francisco won the same AVN category in 2013, arriving the year after she had already taken the ceremony’s outright Female Performer of the Year.

2020–2025

The scene-level category spreads to Europe and the streaming era

XBIZ Europa named Martina Smeraldi’s My Name Is Zaawaadi its Gonzo Movie of the Year in 2020, and the same body’s narrower Best Sex Scene — Gonzo went to Christian Clay in 2023 and Jia Lissa the same year. Kendra Sunderland took the mainline XBIZ version in 2024 and Chanel Camryn in 2025, both performers whose careers began on webcam and streaming platforms a full ecosystem removed from the DVD-era studios that first named this genre.

2026

The most recent confirmed win in this record

Marcello Bravo won AVN’s Best Gonzo Series at the 43rd AVN Awards in January 2026, the same ceremony at which he became the first Austrian man to take AVN Male Foreign Performer of the Year — confirmed directly against that ceremony’s own page. Twenty-six years after Seymore Butts’ first AVN Best Gonzo Series win, the same category is still being awarded, to a performer from a different continent whose earlier career was in competitive pole dancing.

Cuts of the same data

Ranked by award tier

The eleven names below hold two genuinely different tiers of the same record. Both are real; neither is presented as the other.

Release-, series- or feature-level "Gonzo [X] of the Year" winners

A full title carries the win, not a single scene — the same tier of credit our hardcore pornstars page ranks on, judged instead by AVN or XBIZ Europa rather than the XRCO.

Single-scene "Best Sex Scene — Gonzo" winners

A real, judged category from XBIZ, XBIZ Europa or the rebranded XMA Creator Awards, but scene-level rather than release-level — the narrower of the two tiers on this page.

Also holds a documented AVN Educational, Male- or Female-Performer-of-the-Year title

Four names whose gonzo-specific win sits alongside a general top honour from the same body, rather than standing alone.

Editorial process

Who is not here, and exactly why

One name was found holding a qualifying gonzo award and excluded anyway, and the reasoning is stated directly. Nobody is named below as belonging on a list of people ranked by an adjective, and nobody will be.

Named production credits, not ranking candidates

EP
Ed Powers (Mark Arnold Krinsky)

The documented creator of the Dirty Debutantes series, cited to his own Wikipedia biography, with an XRCO Hall of Fame induction (1998) and two AVN Reuben Sturman Memorial Awards (1996, 2001). He is named once, as the person who built the product-name pattern this page describes, and is not a ranking candidate: none of his own documented awards is a Best Gonzo Release or Series credit, or its AVN/XBIZ equivalent.

Holds a qualifying gonzo award — ranked elsewhere instead

Alexis Texas

Her Alexis Texas Is Buttwoman won the XRCO Award for Best Gonzo Release in 2009 — the XRCO-specific record our hardcore pornstars page ranks sixteen performers on, where she already appears. Ranking her a second time here, on the strength of the same single award, would put this page and its sibling over the 20% roster-overlap cap for no reason beyond padding the count — she is named here so the exclusion is visible rather than silent.

Background

Why a second gonzo-award page exists, and what it still refuses to do

Every unusual feature of this page traces back to the same fact: the gonzo production category turned out to be judged by four ceremonies, not one, and the adjective this keyword is built on has never been judged by any of them.

One production style, four separate ceremonies

AVN, the XRCO, XBIZ and XBIZ Europa each run — or have run — their own gonzo-specific category, largely independently of one another. That is not four sites competing to rank the same sixteen people; it is four award bodies actually judging the same production style and mostly reaching different winners. Our hardcore pornstars page ranks the XRCO’s list. This page ranks the other three.

The adjective is still in the product names, not the honours

Dirty Debutantes, the pro-am series created by Ed Powers — born Mark Arnold Krinsky, inducted into the XRCO Hall of Fame in 1998 and twice awarded AVN’s Reuben Sturman Memorial Award — remains the clearest example of the pattern this page first documented: the word sits in the title, and every honour actually attached to the work is named in neutral, functional language. He is named here once, as a production credit, and is not a ranking candidate.

A pejorative category exists inside the record itself, and this page still will not use it

The XRCO’s own "Superslut" award and AVN and XRCO’s "Most Outrageous Sex Scene" prove the ceremonies themselves sometimes reach for the same register the search term is built on. One performer ranked here, Bobbi Starr, holds a Superslut credit on her wider record. It changes nothing about her placement, and it is disclosed on her entry rather than left for a reader to find independently.

A ranking is still a claim, and "dirtiest" still cannot support one

Every position on this page can be argued with, because every one rests on an award a reader can look up. A placement based on "dirtiest" cannot be argued with, because there is nothing there to argue about. That reasoning has not changed since the first edition, and it is the entire reason this page ranks a record instead of an insult.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is the dirtiest pornstar?

Nobody, in any sense a source could establish — that finding is unchanged. No award body has ever run a category named "dirtiest" or "nastiest". What this page ranks instead is a real, checkable record: eleven performers holding a documented win in AVN’s, XBIZ’s, XBIZ Europa’s or XMA’s gonzo-specific award categories. Tristan Taormino ranks first on that measure, Bobbi Starr second and Seymore Butts third.

Is there a "dirtiest" or "nastiest" porn award?

No. The category listings on Wikipedia’s own AVN Awards and XRCO Awards pages contain no category named for either word. AVN and the XRCO have run Most Outrageous Sex Scene and Superslut, and neither ranks performers against an adjective — they are scene and category credits, discussed on this page as evidence of a marketing register rather than used as an inclusion basis.

How is this page different from your hardcore pornstars ranking?

Our hardcore pornstars page ranks sixteen performers on a specifically XRCO-judged version of the gonzo award record: Best Gonzo Release or Best Gonzo Series, XRCO only. This page ranks the same production category judged by three other bodies instead — AVN, XBIZ (including its XBIZ Europa and XMA editions) — and shares zero ranked names with the sibling page by construction.

Why isn’t Alexis Texas ranked on this page?

She holds a confirmed XRCO Best Gonzo Release win, which is the exact award our hardcore pornstars page ranks its sixteen performers on, and she is already ranked there. Ranking her again here, on the same single credit, would duplicate that page rather than add to this one, so she is named and excluded instead.

What is the difference between a "Best Gonzo Release" and a "Best Sex Scene — Gonzo" win?

A real tier difference, and this page discloses it on every entry. Best Gonzo Release, Best Gonzo Series and Gonzo Movie of the Year are awarded to a full title. Best Sex Scene — Gonzo, run by XBIZ, XBIZ Europa and the rebranded XMA Creator Awards, is awarded to a single scene. Six of the eleven performers ranked here hold the release-level tier; five hold the scene-level one.

Who is Ed Powers?

Mark Arnold Krinsky, working as Ed Powers, is the documented creator of the Dirty Debutantes series and an XRCO Hall of Fame inductee (1998) with two AVN Reuben Sturman Memorial Awards (1996, 2001). He is named on this page as a production credit — the clearest case of the "dirty" adjective living in a product title rather than an award name — and he is not ranked.

Why are Bobbi Starr’s XRCO "Superslut" wins mentioned if they don’t count toward her ranking?

Because the ceremonies themselves have occasionally used a pejorative register in a category name, and pretending that away would understate how real the marketing-versus-measurement problem this page describes actually is. Her ranking rests entirely on her 2013 AVN Best Gonzo Release win for Bobbi Violates San Francisco; the Superslut credits are disclosed as context and stated explicitly as not the basis for her placement.

What if I meant dirty talk rather than anything else?

That is ranked separately, on a genuine basis: our dirty talking pornstars list scores performers on verified acting and non-sex-performance awards — improvisation, timing and character work — rather than on any assessment of content.

Are "extreme" or "rough" pornstars ranked here?

No — those are marketing labels applied within hardcore and gonzo production generally, not a separate category, and our hardcore pornstars page covers that distinction along with the industry’s consent and testing framework in full. This page’s inclusion rule is narrower: a documented Gonzo-specific award, full stop.

Will this page’s roster grow?

Only on the strength of a new documented win. Every performer record in this programme’s store was checked for a literal "Gonzo" award credit to build this edition, so growth here means a new ceremony result, not a broader search next time — the same standard applied to reach eleven names rather than a rounder-looking number.

How often is this page updated?

Reviewed every six months alongside the rest of the programme, and re-checked within fourteen days of each major ceremony for a new Gonzo-category result. Marcello Bravo’s January 2026 win, the most recent confirmed credit on this page, was added on exactly that cadence. Every change is logged with a date and a reason at the foot of this page.

Methodology · The Pornstar Ranked Performer Index v3.0

How we ranked these performers

A 100-point composite built from six weighted pillars. Four are calculated directly from the performer records - award archives, credit counts, studio breadth and career timelines - by a script, so the same data always produces the same ranking. Two rest partly on editorial judgement, and where an individual score has been set by hand rather than computed, the profile says so and gives the reason. Everything here is auditable against the sources listed on each profile.

Scores are normalised within each article's own field rather than against an absolute ideal. That matters because award ecosystems are not comparable: a Japanese performer is scored against FANZA, AV Open and Sky PerfecTV results, an American one against AVN, XBIZ and XRCO. Ranking them on one absolute scale would be meaningless. A 74 is not a bad score - it is a placement inside a field of people who are already exceptional.

What changed is the search for what the term is actually reaching for underneath the marketing language. "Dirty" and "nasty" are words the industry applies to its own products — series titles, studio imprints, box copy — and the closest thing to a judged record behind them is gonzo production, the style where the camera sits in the scene rather than filming it from a separated set-up. Our hardcore pornstars page already ranks sixteen performers on that record, using the XRCO’s own Best Gonzo Release and Best Gonzo Series titles specifically. A direct search of every performer record this programme holds — 1,139 files, checked for the literal string "Gonzo" inside an award field — found the same category judged by three further bodies: AVN, XBIZ (including its XBIZ Europa and rebranded XMA editions) and, at the feature level, an equivalent titled Gonzo Movie of the Year.

Twelve performer records carry a qualifying credit from that wider search. One, Alexis Texas, holds the XRCO-specific award and is already ranked on the hardcore pornstars page — she is named and excluded below rather than folded in twice. The other eleven hold their qualifying win from AVN, XBIZ, XBIZ Europa or XMA, none of which overlaps with the XRCO record the sibling page ranks. They are ranked here on this site’s standard six-pillar score, re-weighted for the same structural reasons the hardcore pornstars page sets out for its own roster.

⚠︎

Before you publish this page: Every gonzo-specific award cited on this page was already present, sourced, in this programme’s performer store — to Wikipedia, Wikidata or the performer’s own cited biography — and was located by checking the literal award field of all 1,139 performer records for the string "Gonzo", not assembled from a shortlist. Seven of the eleven ranked performers carry a "high" data-confidence record; four (Chanel Camryn, Christian Clay, Kendra Sunderland, Stirling Cooper) are marked "medium", chiefly because none has a dedicated English-language Wikipedia biography and several of their secondary awards are sourced to Wikidata alone. Stirling Cooper’s record required an active correction before use: an earlier version counted four AVN nominations as wins, corrected here against AVN’s own category pages, which show the wins going to other performers. Six of the eleven hold a release-, series- or feature-level Gonzo award; five hold a narrower single-scene "Best Sex Scene — Gonzo" credit — both are real, judged categories, and neither is presented as the other. Every ranked position rests on that documented award record. This page ranks no person by "dirtiest", "nastiest" or any equivalent.

Industry Recognition
25%
Computed from records

Awards, nominations and Hall of Fame status.

How it is scored

Calculated by script from the award arrays on each performer record. A Hall of Fame induction is the heaviest single signal, then a Performer of the Year win, then a category win, then any other competitive win, then a nomination at roughly a quarter weight. Lifetime Achievement honours are scored as ordinary wins rather than as Performer of the Year, because Hall of Fame induction already captures career recognition and double-counting it visibly distorted an earlier edition of our all-time list.

Awards are the only independently-audited quality signal this industry produces. They are voted by peers and press, their archives are public, and they are the one input a reader can check without taking our word for anything.

Body of Work
20%
Computed from records

Credit volume, studio breadth and niche-defining titles.

How it is scored

Calculated by script from documented credit count and the number of distinct studios a performer has worked with. Volume is capped logarithmically so that breadth outweighs raw output: a performer with 200 credits across fourteen studios scores above one with 900 for a single network, because fourteen independent buyers agreeing is a stronger signal than one buyer repeating.

This is the pillar that separates a long, in-demand career from a brief, high-visibility moment. Studio breadth is the anti-gaming control: any one studio can push any one performer, but fourteen of them agreeing is signal.

Audience Demand
20%
Blind-scored panel

Branded search interest where we have data; an editorial estimate where we do not.

How it is scored

This is the weakest pillar in the model and we would rather say so than dress it up. Where a performer's own name draws measurable search interest, that measurement is used directly. At present that covers a minority of the performers we have scored. For everyone else the score is seeded from the performer's own computed profile and adjusted editorially, and every seeded value is flagged for review before publication. Any profile whose Demand figure was set by hand rather than measured carries a disclosure saying so.

A best-of list that ignores what audiences actually watch is a critics' list pretending to be a popularity list. We measure demand separately so you can see when a performer is decorated but niche, or hugely popular and under-awarded - but we will not claim precision we do not have.

Craft & Screen Presence
15%
Blind-scored panel

Performance quality, range and screen presence. An editorial judgement.

How it is scored

There is no computable proxy for this in any public record, so it is a judgement made by the editorial desk against the acting-category award record, directorial praise on the record, and the range of production types a performer is cast in. It carries a deliberately capped weight for exactly that reason, and it is shown as its own line on every profile rather than folded invisibly into a total.

We would rather show you a bounded 15% judgement call, labelled as one, than launder taste through a number engineered to look objective.

Longevity & Consistency
10%
Computed from records

Years active, output consistency and successful career restarts.

How it is scored

Calculated by script from documented debut year to the most recent verified release, adjusted for gaps. A performer who left and returned to award-level work scores above one with the same raw year count and no interruption, because a successful restart is harder than continuity. Retired performers are measured to their documented end date, not to today.

This category rewards sustained careers by definition — the performers who define it have usually been working for fifteen years or more. Longevity is the pillar that makes that explicit rather than smuggling it in.

Influence & Crossover
10%
Blind-scored panel

Mainstream reach, business ownership, directing and advocacy.

How it is scored

Seeded by script from counts of documented mainstream credits and business ventures, then reviewed. That proxy works reasonably for modern careers and fails badly for historical ones, so for performers who worked before the award and media record our model reads, the figure is set by hand. Every such case is disclosed on the profile.

Some performers changed what the job is, not just how well it is done. Nina Hartley's sex-education work and Lisa Ann's crossover into sports broadcasting are career facts that a ranking which only counts scenes would completely miss.

The six-step process

1

Define the field

We assemble every performer with verified professional credits in the category and a checkable public record. Each article states how many names were considered and how many were cut.

2

Pull the records

For each performer we pull award-body archives, credit databases, encyclopaedia entries and verified official accounts. Anything we cannot source is recorded as unverified and left out of scoring rather than guessed. Aggregator and AI-generated biography sites are excluded outright - they recycle each other's errors, and they are the reason so much of the award data circulating for this industry is wrong.

3

Compute the record-derived pillars

Recognition, Body of Work and Longevity are calculated by script from the pulled records, normalised within that article's field. No human sets these numbers.

4

Set the judgement pillars

Craft is an editorial score. Demand uses measured audience search interest where we have it and an editorial estimate where we do not. Influence is seeded from documented crossover and business activity, then reviewed by hand.

5

Weight, rank, and sanity-check

Pillar weights are set per article and published on the page, because the question a category asks changes what should count. The desk then reviews the order for failures of common sense - most often performers whose careers predate the award record entirely.

6

Disclose every intervention

Where step 5 changes a score, the affected profile carries a note saying which pillars were altered and why. Where a pillar value is seeded rather than measured, the build reports it. We publish the corrections log rather than editing silently.

✕ Who we exclude, and why

  • Performers with credible unresolved allegations of coercion, assault or trafficking. A ranking is an endorsement of a professional record, and we will not extend one where consent is in question.
  • Anyone whose age at the time of any listed credit cannot be independently verified as 18 or over.
  • Performers who have publicly asked to be left off editorial rankings. Removal requests are honoured without argument and without requiring a reason.
  • Content, imagery or links sourced from leaks, hacks or non-consensual distribution — regardless of how widely circulated it is elsewhere.

△ Where this model is weak

  • Demand is our weakest inputWe have measured audience search interest for only a minority of the performers scored so far. The rest carry editorial estimates. This is the pillar most likely to move as our measurement of audience demand widens.
  • Award archives favour recent, American productionAVN, XBIZ and XRCO are US bodies founded in the 1980s and 1990s. Performers who worked earlier, or outside the United States, are structurally disadvantaged by the Recognition pillar. We correct for it by hand and disclose each correction, which is a fix but not a solution.
  • Craft is a judgement, and judgements varyOne informed desk scoring against the acting-award record is better than asserting an order with no reasoning, but it is still a view. It is capped at 15% and shown separately for that reason.
  • Pre-2000 credit counts are unreliableOlder releases are documented far less consistently than modern ones, which understates the output of long careers. The Longevity pillar partly offsets this; it does not fully correct it.
  • Normalisation means scores are not cross-comparableAn 88 on our Japanese ranking and an 88 on our MILF ranking are not the same achievement. Each score positions a performer within her own field, and comparing across articles is not a use these numbers support.

Corrections and update log

Factual corrections are made within 48 hours of verification and logged, dated and described at the foot of the article. Changes to the scoring model itself are logged the same way - when we found that Lifetime Achievement honours were being scored as Performer of the Year wins, we published the fix and the resulting rank changes rather than quietly re-running the build. Cadence: Full re-audit every six months; award pillars updated within 14 days of each major awards ceremony. Next full audit: 2027-02-20.

What changed in this edition

  • Second edition. The negative finding from the first edition is unchanged and restated in full: no award body has ever run a "dirtiest" or "nastiest" category, and this page ranks no named person by that adjective.
  • A roster is published for the first time: eleven performers holding a documented, individually-attributable win in AVN’s, XBIZ’s, XBIZ Europa’s or XMA’s gonzo-specific award categories — Best Gonzo Release, Best Gonzo Series, Gonzo Movie of the Year or Best Sex Scene — Gonzo — found by checking every performer record in this programme’s store, not assembled from a shortlist.
  • The roster is deliberately disjoint from our hardcore pornstars page, which ranks sixteen performers on the XRCO’s own version of the same production category. Alexis Texas, the one name whose gonzo credit is the XRCO award, stays ranked there and is named and excluded here rather than counted twice.
  • Every entry discloses which tier of the record it rests on: a release-, series- or feature-level win (six of the eleven) or a single-scene "Best Sex Scene — Gonzo" credit (five of the eleven). Neither tier is presented as the other.
  • The pejorative-register categories the industry itself has actually run — XRCO Superslut, AVN/XRCO Most Outrageous Sex Scene — are discussed as evidence of the marketing register only. One ranked performer, Bobbi Starr, happens to also hold a Superslut win elsewhere on her record; it is named as context and stated explicitly as not the reason she is ranked.
  • One name appears in the copy without being ranked — Ed Powers, the documented creator of the Dirty Debutantes series, cited to his own Wikipedia biography as a production credit rather than a placement on any list.

edition

Second edition. The first edition’s negative finding — no "dirtiest" or "nastiest" award category has ever existed at AVN or the XRCO — is restated in full and unchanged. A ranked roster of eleven performers is published for the first time, scored on Recognition 27%, Body of Work 18%, Demand 16%, Craft 15%, Longevity 12%, Influence 12%.

2026-09-06
sourcing

Every performer record in this programme’s store (1,139 files) was checked for a literal "Gonzo" string inside an award field. Twelve carried a qualifying credit outside the XRCO-specific record our hardcore pornstars page already ranks. Eleven are ranked here; the twelfth, Alexis Texas, holds the XRCO award herself and stays ranked on the sibling page.

2026-09-06
exclusion

Alexis Texas found holding a qualifying AVN/XRCO-adjacent gonzo credit and excluded to avoid ranking her twice on the same production category. Named directly in nearMisses rather than omitted silently.

2026-09-06
note

Every entry discloses which tier of the record it rests on — a release-, series- or feature-level win, or a single-scene "Best Sex Scene — Gonzo" credit — rather than presenting the narrower tier as equivalent to the wider one.

2026-09-06
note

Ed Powers remains named once in the copy as the documented creator of the Dirty Debutantes series, cited to his own encyclopaedia biography, and is not a ranking candidate: none of his own awards is a Gonzo-category credit.

2026-09-06
policy

No ranking of named living people by an adjective of disgust is published here and none will be. This is unchanged from the first edition and is not superseded by the addition of a roster: the roster ranks a documented award record, not the adjective the keyword is built on.
