John Wayne Bobbitt

Career

Bobbitt became internationally known in 1993, and the two criminal trials that followed the incident ended in acquittals for both him and his then-wife. He then made two adult features, John Wayne Bobbitt Uncut in 1994 and Frankenpenis in 1996, alongside a run of talk-show and professional-wrestling appearances. His convictions are unconnected to that work: in Las Vegas in 1994 he was convicted twice within weeks of misdemeanour domestic battery against his then-fiancée. He served most of a fifteen-day sentence for the first; TIME reported the second conviction in Las Vegas Municipal Court that September, where the judge described him from the bench as a bully.
