Constance Money
Career
Born Susan Jensen, Money studied psychology and sociology at Mills College before taking the lead in The Opening of Misty Beethoven, the film most frequently named the best-regarded feature of the Golden Age. With Hugh Hefner’s encouragement she tried to cross into mainstream film, landing a small part in Blake Edwards’ 10 (1979), but lost her pursuit of the lead in Frances (1982) when, by her own account, the producers would not consider a star with a pornography background. She retired to the Pacific Northwest in 1983.
Signature: She holds the lead in the film most often named the best of the Golden Age, and the XRCO waited until 2016 — thirty-three years after she stopped working — to recognise it.
