Candida Royalle
Career
Royalle performed for five years before co-founding Club 90, an early support group for adult actresses, alongside Veronica Hart and Gloria Leonard. In 1984 she founded Femme Productions with Lauren Niemi, built specifically around a female and couples audience — a business model the rest of the industry took two decades to take seriously. She went on to write How to Tell a Naked Man What to Do (2004), sit on the founding board of Feminists for Free Expression, and speak at the Smithsonian Institution and the World Congress on Sexology before dying of ovarian cancer in 2015.
Signature: She stopped performing after five years and spent the next three decades building the first studio built specifically around a female audience.
