Samantha Fox
Career
Born Stasia Micula, Fox studied art at Sarah Lawrence College and physical therapy at Hunter College before appearing in over 100 films across comedy, drama and horror-adjacent productions during her nine years in the industry. She won the Adult Film Association of America’s Best Actress award in consecutive years, 1980 and 1981, at the body that served as the top annual honour before AVN existed. After retiring in 1984 she worked as a fitness instructor; she died in New York City in April 2020, of a cardiovascular illness related to suspected COVID-19.
Signature: Two AFAA Best Actress wins in consecutive years, at the awards body that existed before AVN did — and a name shared with a much more famous British pop singer with no connection to this industry.
