Kaoru Kuroki
Career
Kuroki debuted in October 1986 and became the defining star of the mid-1980s JAV boom, achieving mainstream daytime-television fame rare for an AV performer of any era. Her 1988 decision to stop shaving her underarms as a protest against censorship drew national coverage and made her a public figure in a debate about the industry rather than merely a product of it. She retired from public life in 1994 and won a privacy suit against a publisher in 2007.
