Sola Aoi
Career
Aoi debuted in 2002 and became one of the best-known S1 actresses of the 2000s before retiring in 2011. Discovered by Chinese Weibo users in 2010, she became an outsized mainstream celebrity there, passing 13 million followers by 2012. She converted that into a pan-Asian career spanning Japanese TV drama, films in Thailand, Hong Kong and Indonesia, a Mandarin music release, and membership of the idol group Ebisu Muscats.
Signature: The clearest case in the category of a second career eclipsing the first: she is better known in China as a mainstream celebrity than as a performer.

- English Wikipedia describes this as a 2004 “Best Actress” win; the Pink Award ceremony’s own winners list (17th ceremony, 2005) instead places Aoi in the New Actress (新人) category for Tsumugi. Corrected here to match the awarding body’s own record.
