Jennifer Welles
Career
Welles trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre before working as a chorus member, magician’s assistant, jazz singer, stripper and nightclub performer, then a pre-hardcore adult film career stretching back to the late 1960s. She edited Eros, The Magazine of Decadent Sophistication in 1977, the year she left the industry after marrying a fan, and later raised horses, rescued abused dogs, and lectured at the University of Maryland and Stony Brook University. She died in Arizona in June 2018.
Signature: She left the industry in 1977, seven years before AVN existed, and its Hall of Fame recognised her nineteen years after she had already stopped.
