Rosanna Roces
Career
Born Jennifer Cruz Adriano and billed early on as "Ana Maceda," Roces became a contract star for Seiko Films from 1994 to 1996, the studio built on the Philippines' theatrically released "bold film" genre. She moved decisively into mainstream acting with Ligaya Ang Itawag Mo Sa Akin in 1997 and went on to host GMA Network's Startalk from 1997 to 2004. Her mainstream record eclipses her erotic-film years by any measure: a Gawad Urian Best Actress win in 2001 for La Vida Rosa, a Cinema One Originals Best Actress win in 2009 for Wanted: Border, and a further Gawad Urian win, for Best Supporting Actress, in 2010 for Presa — three competitive wins from bodies with no connection to adult entertainment, across two decades of continued work through the 2010s and into films including Manila (2009) and The Panti Sisters (2019).
Signature: The clearest career-arc case in this companion roster: a Seiko Films erotic-genre contract star who went on to win Best Actress twice and Best Supporting Actress once at mainstream Philippine award ceremonies.
