Alicia Rio

Career

Born Carmen Marie Hughlett in Mexico City, Rio debuted in More Dirty Debutantes 12 in 1992 and built a filmography of more than 200 productions before leaving the industry at the end of the 1990s. She won the FOXE (Fans of X-Rated Entertainment) Fan Favorite award in both 1995 and 1996, was twice nominated by AVN for Best Actress, was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2004, and received the Free Speech Coalition's Professional Achievement Award in 2005. She also appeared in a small number of music videos and mainstream films, and later wrote a regular column on adult film for the Southern California arts and culture magazine Beverly Hills Outlook. She died on 17 January 2022 in California from COVID-19 complications.

Signature: An AVN Hall of Fame induction paired with two FOXE Fan Favorite wins gives her recognition from both the industry's trade body and its fan base.
