Jeannie Pepper
Career
Pepper debuted in 1982 and worked steadily through the following three decades, building a filmography Wikipedia puts at over 200 credits. In 1997 the AVN Awards inducted her into its Hall of Fame; her Wikipedia article states she was “the first African American woman to be recognized with that honor,” eleven years before the industry’s AVN and XBIZ ceremonies produced any other Black Hall of Fame inductee on record in our research. The XRCO Hall of Fame followed in 2008. She played Mrs. McReynolds in the 1996 mainstream comedy High School High and appeared in Tupac Shakur’s 1996 video for "How Do You Want It?"
Signature: Inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 1997 as the first Black performer to receive it — a full decade before Urban X existed to give the industry a second way to recognise her peers.
