Ana Foxxx
Career
Foxxx debuted in 2011 and has appeared in a mainstream feature, Sean Baker’s Tangerine (2015), alongside her adult-film work. She has been publicly and repeatedly critical of how the industry treats Black performers: she has described discomfort being asked to shoot a scene involving Confederate-flag imagery in 2012, publicly opposed California’s 2016 Proposition 60 condom mandate, and criticised a February 2016 email from the talent agency Exposed Models LA telling performers they would be booked for interracial scenes "at their lowest rate" during Black History Month. In a 2020 Rolling Stone interview conducted amid that year’s wave of industry reckoning, she put the underlying pattern in her own words: "I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, ‘Ana, we wish we could shoot you more, but we only shoot so many black girls.’" She won Urban X’s Female Performer of the Year in 2018 and an AVN Award for Best Group Sex Scene in 2019.
