Annie Sprinkle
Career
Sprinkle began performing in 1975 and by 1981 had co-directed and starred in Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle, one of the top-grossing adult films of that year. She earned a PhD in human sexuality in 1996 and became a certified sexologist, pivoting into performance art with works including Public Cervix Announcement and the one-woman show Post Porn Modernist. She later co-founded the ecosexuality art and activism movement.
Signature: The only performer here who moved from hardcore film into gallery performance art and a doctorate, and did all three seriously.
