Belle Knox

Career

Miriam Weeks performed under the name Belle Knox from 2013 while studying women’s studies and sociology at Duke University, using the income to meet tuition costs. Her identity was disclosed on campus in late 2013, prompting sustained harassment and a large volume of national news coverage about the economics of American higher education. She wrote columns for HuffPost and xoJane, spoke at universities, and was appointed to the national board of the Sex Workers Outreach Project. Her story was dramatised in a Law & Order: SVU episode and a 2017 Lifetime docudrama.

Signature: Her significance is almost entirely as a public figure rather than a performer: she is the rare case where the surrounding argument about consent, stigma and student debt eclipsed the filmography.

Index score — The Pornstar Ranked Performer Index v3.0

Scores are normalised within a single ranking's field, so this breakdown is Belle Knox's placement inside Indian Pornstars: Who Actually Qualifies — the largest field she appears in. Her rank on each of the other 4 rankings below was computed against that ranking's own field and is not the same measurement.
