Axel Braun
Career
The son of Italian arthouse-erotica director Lasse Braun, Braun was born in Milan and studied film at Columbia College Hollywood before entering the American adult industry in 1990. His narrative parody Batman XXX: A Porn Parody (2010) became the best-selling and best-renting adult title of that year and led Vivid Entertainment to build a superhero-parody imprint around him. He moved to an exclusive directing contract with Wicked Pictures in 2013, and became Head of Production there after Gamma Entertainment’s 2020 acquisition of the studio. He announced his retirement on 23 June 2023 after thirty-three years, by which point he had directed more than 500 films and won AVN Director of the Year four years running.
