Arzu Okay
Career
Okay won a newspaper beauty competition in 1970, placed fourth in an Italian contest that followed, and made her screen debut opposite Ayhan Işık in Ölünceye Kadar. Turkish Wikipedia records that she made her name during the sex-film wave of the 1970s in vamp roles. She left cinema in the early 1980s, sang on an Anatolian tour, moved to Paris in 1984 and ran a leather-goods business there until the 1990 crash. She was given an honorary award at the 10th International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival in 2012, took the lead in Görkem Yeltan’s feature Yemekteydik ve Karar Verdim in 2015, and returned to the stage in 2017.
Signature: A working mainstream actress with a fifty-year career and a festival honour, who appears under this search term only because of six years in the middle of the 1970s.
