Emel Aydan
Career
Aydan worked as a striptease performer in Switzerland before returning to Turkey and entering the Yeşilçam sex-film wave in the middle of the 1970s, debuting on screen in Hızlım Benimdir. Turkish Wikipedia records twenty erotic films between roughly 1975 and 1979 alongside non-erotic work including the drama Kader Bu and the musical Lüks Hayat, and a parallel career singing on stage. Her film work stopped abruptly at the end of the decade; when the coup of 12 September 1980 banned the production and distribution of erotic film, the industry she had worked in did not recover, and she worked in nightclubs instead. She lives in Bodrum.
Signature: The clearest surviving example of a career that was an adult-film career rather than a mainstream filmography that briefly passed through the sex-film wave — and of how completely a single decree ended one.
