Yuma Asami
Career
Asami debuted in October 2005 with Alice Japan and became one of S1’s leading stars of the late 2000s, placing second in DMM’s all-time actress poll. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013, she underwent surgery and chemotherapy, recovered fully, and became a public advocate with Cancer Net Japan. She retired in May 2015, having also pursued a J-pop career and published the autobiography Re Start in 2014.
Signature: Ranked second in DMM’s all-time actress poll — the closest thing the Japanese industry has to a canonical popularity ranking.
