Yu Hyeri
Career
Yu Hyeri debuted in 1988 with Pari Aema, a title modelled directly on the Madame Aema franchise, and gained attention as part of the same erotic-film wave through the late 1980s. In 1990 she won Best Supporting Actress at the Daejong Film Awards, one of South Korea’s oldest mainstream film honours, for Love in a Desolate Place. From around 1990 she moved toward character roles and then largely into stage work.
Signature: The clearest crossover case in this group: a competitive Best Supporting Actress win at a major mainstream award body, for a film from the same erotic-cinema wave that gave her her start.
