Katie Morgan
Career
Morgan took her stage name from Captain Morgan rum and the Gone with the Wind character, and entered the industry in 2001. A run of HBO documentary specials in the mid-2000s gave her an unusually large non-industry audience, and Kevin Smith cast her in the 2008 comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno, her mainstream feature debut. AVN gave her its crossover award — formally The Jenna Jameson Crossover Star of the Year — at the 26th ceremony in 2009. She retired around the same time, married a crew member she had met on the Zack and Miri set, and returned to the industry in 2015. She hosted the podcast Having Sex, With Katie Morgan on Smith’s SModcast network from 2011 to 2013 and was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2013.
Signature: Her crossover was built on documentary television rather than acting: several years of HBO specials put her in front of a mainstream audience before she had a single scripted credit.
