Crissy Moran
Career
Moran performed in adult film from 1999 to 2006, appearing in roughly fifty productions in the final five of those years. In October 2006, at a gathering connected to her then-boyfriend’s film shoot, another attendee recognised her, told her he already knew what she did for a living, and asked whether she believed in God. By her own account she was moved to rededicate her life to Christianity that day and stopped accepting adult-industry work immediately afterward. She has since worked as a Christian public speaker, appeared in the 2012 documentary After Porn Ends and the 2008 short film Oversold, and has spoken at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s annual summit. Since 2013 she has worked with Treasures, a nonprofit founded in 2003 that supports women exiting the sex industry.
Signature: One of the earliest and most publicly documented religious exits in the category — she gave a first-person account of the specific conversation that changed her mind, rather than a vague retirement announcement, and has kept doing the advocacy work in the years since rather than one round of press.
