Zara Whites
Career
Born Esther Kooiman in 's-Gravendeel, Whites moved to Italy in 1989 and appeared as a ragazza cin cin (a full-contact topless dancer) on the television show Colpo Grosso before making her pornographic film debut in 1990 with the American bondage-and-discipline title The Challenge, directed by Bruce Seven. She appeared in 27 adult films through the 1990s, also modelling for Penthouse, Playboy and Hustler, and starred in the French TV series Joy for M6 and the film La Dresseuse (1998). She later became a vegetarian and animal-rights activist, taking part in a 2006 PETA demonstration in Rotterdam, and published an autobiography, Je suis Zara Whites mais je me soigne, the same year. In May 2011 she became national secretary of the French green party Alliance Écologiste Indépendante and stood as a candidate in French legislative elections. She now lives south of Paris.
