Sylvester Stallone
Career
Stallone took the male lead, billed as Stud, in Morton Lewis’s 1970 softcore feature The Party at Kitty and Stud’s. He worked two days and was paid $200. In a 1978 Playboy interview he called the film horrendous and said the alternative had been robbing someone, adding that by the standards of the day it would almost qualify for a PG certificate. After Rocky in 1976 the film was recut and reissued as The Italian Stallion with marketing that implied hardcore content; the trade journal AVN examined an original print and found no trace of any. DVD editions released in 2007 that claimed to contain hardcore footage used inserts in which Stallone does not appear. He said he declined to buy the rights in order to suppress it.
Signature: His single early credit is also the programme’s clearest documented case of misattribution marketing: the film was resold twice on the promise of explicit content it never contained.
