Wu Meng-meng
Career
Born in Taipei on 27 July 1990. She began on the Taiwanese subscription platform SWAG and later left it to produce with her own team, making her one of very few Taiwanese performers to control both production and distribution. In June 2020 she reached an agreement with Japan's Soft On Demand to release Taiwan-shot work in Japan in two formats, a 60-minute download edition and a 120-minute DVD edition. She gave an extended interview to BBC Chinese published 29 March 2022 covering the working conditions, income structure and psychological cost of the job. From 2020 she pursued copyright actions against more than fifty people who redistributed her paid work; the Yilan District Court's first judgment held that adult film is protected under Taiwan's Copyright Act and sentenced the defendant to 40 days' detention, commutable to a NT$40,000 fine. Five further defendants who reposted her work to LINE groups were each sentenced to 40 days' detention. Taiwanese judicial practice had previously treated obscene material as ineligible for intellectual property protection. She also runs a YouTube channel discussing industry economics and sex education.
Signature: The only performer in Taiwan whose professional record includes court judgments, which are the highest tier of source this programme uses and are almost entirely absent from this field.
