Sandra Romain

Career

Born Mărioara Cornelia Popescu in Timișoara, Romain began performing around 2000 in Hungary alongside her then-husband, who became her manager, before relocating to the United States in 2003. She built a reputation for anal and group-sex work, winning back-to-back AVN Awards for Best Sex Scene in a Foreign-Shot Production in 2006 (Euro Domination) and 2007 (Outnumbered 4, a scene shared with fellow Romanian performer Steve Holmes), and took a third AVN win in 2007 for Best Threeway Sex Scene in Fuck Slaves alongside Sasha Grey and Manuel Ferrara. She retired from the industry around 2008–2013 depending on the source, with her last documented on-screen credit dated 2018. Her younger sister, Alice Romain, also worked as an adult performer.

Signature: One of the few Romanian-born performers with multiple outright AVN Award wins rather than just nominations — three, all clustered in the mid-2000s foreign-production and group-scene categories, including a three-way win alongside Sasha Grey and Manuel Ferrara.
