Riya Barde
Career
Barde was arrested by Hill Line police at Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra on 26 September 2024 and charged under section 14(A) of the Foreigners Act, 1946 alongside Indian Penal Code provisions on cheating and forgery, on an allegation that she had obtained an Indian passport with false documents. The Indian national press covering the arrest — Deccan Herald, The Week and The Tribune among others — described her consistently as a Bangladeshi national working as an adult film actress, and the case was reported in Bangladesh by Kaler Kantho. Her stepfather was arrested afterwards in connection with the same documents. The Bangladeshi nationality is the well-evidenced part of the story and is why she appears here. The criminal allegations are allegations, and nothing in the reporting has been tested in a court so far as we can establish.
