Jonathan Agassi
Career
Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Israeli city of Holon, Agassi auditioned in 2009 for Men of Israel — the first pornographic film shot on location in Israel with an all-Israeli cast, produced and directed by Michael Lucas for Lucas Entertainment — and performed in two scenes. He went on to roughly a decade in gay adult film, working with Lucas Entertainment and living for part of that period in Berlin, where he also worked as an escort. From around 2010 the Israeli director Tomer Heymann filmed him continuously for eight years, covering his rise, his relationship with his mother, and his drug use and depression; the resulting documentary, Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life, had its international premiere at IDFA in November 2018. He has since stopped performing and lives in Tel Aviv.
Signature: The only performer in this category whose career is documented by a feature documentary he took part in for eight years — and, through it, by The New York Times, The Guardian, IndieWire and Haaretz rather than by an unreferenced database field.
