August Ames
Career
Born Mercedes Grabowski in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, August Ames debuted in 2013 and appeared in more than 250 films over a four-year career, drawing three separate AVN Female Performer of the Year nominations — the industry’s top annual category — on top of an XRCO Cream Dream award in 2015 and a Twistys Treat of the Year title in 2016. She also appeared in the 2016 mainstream film Model for Murder: The Centerfold Killer. She died on 5 December 2017, at 23, ruled a suicide by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, two days after a widely publicised social-media controversy. This entry covers her professional record and states her death factually, without dwelling on the circumstances.
Signature: Three nominations for the industry’s top annual performer title within a four-year career — a record this article states plainly, alongside the fact that her career and life ended in 2017.
