Lea De Mae
Career
Born Andrea Absolonová, she was a member of the Czech national high-diving team and trained toward the 1996 Summer Olympics before a spinal injury sustained on the ten-metre platform ended her competitive career; she did not qualify for Sydney 2000 and retired from diving soon after. She then performed under the name Lea De Mae from 1999, appearing in more than eighty films chiefly for Private Media Group. In July 2004 she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, and died in Prague that December at the age of 27. A 2023 Czech-Slovak documentary drama, Her Body, is based on her life.
